Louise Post of Veruca Salt catches up with Kyle Meredith to talk about her new demos collection, But I Love You Without Mascara.

The rock icon talks about how the tracks came about before 2000’s Resolver, at a time when the original Veruca Salt lineup was breaking up. As a result, the lyrics directly reflect her relationship with bandmate Nina Gordon at the time, while one of the songs in particular was inspired by a famed late-’90s relationship.

Post also discusses having Pat Smear and James Iha guest on the closing track, the possibility of more demo collections (including one with Veruca Salt), and her upcoming solo album. Her first project to be released under her own name, the LP is inspired by FINNEAS, Billie Eilish, and making her kids listen to Nirvana.
