Vertigo Entertainment Inks Overall Deal With Warner Bros. TV, Taps Michael Connolly As Head Of Television

Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment is expanding its longterm relationship with Warner Bros. to the television side with a two-year exclusive overall deal at Warner Bros. TV for drama and comedy series. The company’s TV operations will be headed by Michael Connolly, who previously founded management/production company Mad Hatter Entertainment. He will be based on the studio lot.

Lee and Connolly first worked together on the Taps2008 Universal Pictures horror movie The Strangers, which Lee produced and Connolly sold as manager, and they are co-producers on DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon franchise. Connolly recently executive produced Netflix’s Hemlock Grove and also exec produces The Son, a drama series based on the best-selling 2013 novel by Philipp Meyer, which is in development at AMC.

Vertigo Entertainment produces A&E’s flagship drama, Bates Motel, with Lee executive producing.

Lee’s feature credits include the Oscar-winning The Departed as well as The Ring and The Lego Movie franchises. Through its first-look deal at Warner Bros., Vertigo is in pre-production on Ninjago and Lego Batman and is developing Minecraft and Dungeons and Dragons.

In TV, Vertigo Entertainment previously had a first-look deal with Fox 21 for cable series. As part of the new WBTV pact, the company also has brought in Melissa Lora from Bad Robot to serve as coordinator for the new TV division.
