Lisa and Jessica Origliasso talk about being heavily influenced by their rock upbringing and how the bands from their youth have manifested in their sound. “Our song ‘Jungle’ is a throwback to something like The B-52’s or The Cramps,” they say. “[It’s] more of the music that we grew up listening to, rather than what you would expect The Veronicas to make for a radio song, if that makes sense.”

For Gothic Summer, The Veronicas reunited with producer John Feldmann, marking the beginning and ending of different artistic chapters. With the reunion came a reexamination of how the sisters feel about pop music, ultimately exploring the duality of abstract art and pop.
