‘Verified Stand-Up’ Series Sets Netflix Premiere Date; Asif Ali, Dulcé Sloan, Rosebud Baker & Sabrina Wu Among Performers

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix on Monday morning unveiled Verified Stand-Up, a new series featuring short sets from 10 comedians that’s set to premiere globally on November 28. Rising comedians that perform in the two-parter, filmed at Webster Hall in New York City, include Asif Ali, Dulcé Sloan, Gianmarco Soresi, Isiah Kelly, Leslie Liao, Nimesh Patel, Robby Hoffman, Rosebud Baker, Sabrina Wu, and Vanessa Gonzalez.

News of Netflix’s new stand-up series comes following its announcement of Improv: 60 And Still Standing, a comedy special celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Improv comedy clubs, which is set to premiere November 7th. Top comics dropping in for short sets as part of that project included Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Bert Kreischer, Craig Robinson, Deon Cole, Fortune Feimster, Jeff Dunham, Kevin Nealon, Mark Normand, Jo Koy, and Whitney Cummings.

Previously seen on Disney+’s WandaVision and The Mandalorian, Apple TV+’s Shrinking, Fox’s New Girl and Olivia Wilde’s film Don’t Worry Darling, Ali has also been set to star in the comedy series Deli Boys coming to Hulu next year.

Perhaps best known for her work as a correspondent on The Daily Show, Sloan has previously won NBC’s Stand Up Showcase, and has also been recognized as a Montreal Just For Laughs New Face, and as a Comedian to Watch on The Steve Harvey Show. She also currently voices a role on Fox animated series The Great North.

Selected as a JFL New Face in 2022, the New York-based Soresi has performed stand-up on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Comedy Central, Don’t Tell, The Real Housewives of New York, and elsewhere. He’s also been seen acting in Billy Crystal’s Here Today, Netflix’s Bonding, Hustlers, and The Last OG, while hosting the popular podcast The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi.

A comedian and actor who’s been performing since the age of 10, the 30-year-old Kelly is currently on the road with comedian Lavell Crawford.

Named a New Face of Comedy at JFL 2023, Liao has toured with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Feimster, and can often be seen in Los Angeles gracing the stages of The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, Laugh Factory, and Flappers, among other venues.

A comedian and Emmy-nominated writer, Patel’s most recent self-produced special Lucky Lefty, about his experience having testicular cancer “for three business days,” is his third in the past two years, on the heels of Thank You China and Jokes to Get You Through Quarantine. He’s also written for the Academy Awards, SNL, A Little Late with Lilly Singh and The White House Correspondents Dinner, and was a producer for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Named one of Comedy Central’s UP NEXT comedians, Hoffman has also been recognized as part of Conan O’Brien’s Comics to Watch list. She has performed numerous times at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival and just headlined the New York Comedy Festival for a second time. Hoffman’s first hour special, I’m Nervous, is available on CraveTV. Her writing credits include The Chris Gethard Show (TruTV), Workin’ Moms (Netflix), and Baroness Von Sketch Show (IFC). In 2019, Hoffman won a Daytime Emmy Award for her writing work on Odd Squad (PBS). She is currently developing projects with Showtime, Warner Bros TV and A24.

A comedian, actor and Emmy-winning writer, who’s currently on staff at SNL, Baker wrote and performed on two WGA Award-nominated sketch series: That Damn Michael Che and Inside Amy Schumer. She’s performed stand-up on That’s My Time with David Letterman on Netflix, as well as Bill Burr’s The Ringers on Comedy Central, and saw her debut stand-up special, Whiskey Fists, premiere on Comedy Central’s YouTube channel in 2021. Her acting work can be seen in Life & Beth on Hulu and the upcoming horror comedy feature film Hell of a Summer, directed by Finn Wolfhard & Billy Bryk.

The Brooklyn-based Wu recently made their feature film debut in the Lionsgate comedy Joy Ride, from executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and director Adele Lim. Regularly performing at venues like Union Hall and the Bell House in New York City, where they’ve been featured as part of the New York Comedy Festival, they were selected as one of JFL’s New Faces of Comedy in 2022, also last year making their late-night stand-up debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Wu served as a staff writer on the Disney+ series Doogie Kameāloha M.D. and is currently a staff writer on an unannounced series for Netflix with Mike Schur executive producing. They also recently sold a pilot to 20th Century Studios.

Gonzales can currently be seen on Entre Nos: Spot On and Comedy Chingonas on Max, This Joka on the Roku Channel and performing live opening for Chelsea Handler on the 2023 Little Big Bitch Tour. She hosts the podcast I’m Not Busy with Micheal Foulk and has also appeared on TruTV’s Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks, Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents, A Little Late with Lilly Singh and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Recently releasing new hours from Shane Gillis, Kountry Wayne, Luenell, Michelle Wolf, and Beth Stelling, Netflix unveiled Heather McMahan’s new special Son I Never Had October 17. Others coming up for release include Pete Holmes: I Am Not for Everyone (October 24) and Ralph Barbosa: Cowabunga (October 31).
