Need a vegan option for the Super Bowl? Here are five ideas

For some, the best part of the Super Bowl is the commercials. For others, the game. Some tune in just for the halftime show. For the rest, it’s “football food.”

But if you’re a vegan, going to a Super Bowl party with a spread of dips and wings that you can’t eat can be really frustrating.

If you have some vegans on the invite list for your Super Bowl party, if you are a vegan throwing a party or if you’re looking to bring your own tasty vegan Super Bowl snacks to a friend’s party, we’ve got you.

Here are five great vegan-friendly Super Bowl snacks you can whip up this weekend.

Vegan snacks for your Super Bowl Sunday

  1. Vegan nachos, with all the fixins: From Rainbow Plant Life, this vegan nacho recipe is loaded down with “meat,” refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, vegan sour cream, pickled red onions, sliced jalapenos, cilantro, vegan sour cream and chopped scallions. If you want to really fix it up right, there’s a recipe within this one for vegan nacho cheese. For the meat, the recipe calls for your favorite store-bought vegan ground meat or meatless crumbles.

  2. Cheesy vegan buffalo cauliflower dip: What’s a Super Bowl party without buffalo dip? That’s hardly a Super Bowl party at all! This recipe is also from Rainbow Plant Life and only has 10 ingredients (and none of them are elusive or hiding on the back shelf of a health foods store). You can make this recipe in a crockpot or on your stove top.

  3. Meat-eater-approved cauliflower buffalo “wings”: These crunchy, crispy buffalo “wings” from This Healthy Kitchen can be made in either an air fryer or your oven. The batter calls for brown rice flour and cashew milk or your plant milk of choice and the “wings” are cauliflower florets.

  4. Creamy, cheesy vegan spinach artichoke dip: This spinach and artichoke dip recipe from Elevegan is cashew-based instead of dairy-based and takes under 30 minutes to make.

  5. Crispy, golden brown baked vegan onion rings: These onion rings, also from Elevegan, are a lot easier on the tummy than fried onion rings because they’re baked. The batter is made of ground oats (or panko bread crumbs), chickpea flour, cornstarch and plant-based milk or vegetable broth.
