VeeFriends Cards: The Ultimate Guide

Since its inception, VeeFriends has been committed to providing unique opportunities and value to its community. In one of their latest offerings, VeeFriends introduced physical collectables in the form of trading cards that include various utilities. These cards embrace both the nostalgia of collecting, and the Web3 innovation that VeeFriends continues to pioneer.

On the digital side, VeeFriends Series 1 was released in May 2021 and included 10,255 NFT's introducing 268 characters. 1242 of these NFT's were originally held by Gary Vaynerchuk. The Series 2 NFT's were released in April 2022 and included 251 characters and 55,555 tokens. Now, VeeFriends cards are bringing the world of VeeFriends to life in a new and exciting way.

From how to get your hands on them, to how to make the most of the experience, here’s everything you need to know about VeeFriends cards.

The first unveiling of VeeFriends cards took place in March 2022 in collaboration with zerocool, the premier release by the trading card company which falls under the Fanatics umbrella of collectible brands. These cards were sold in boxes containing 10 premium cards, showcasing all 268 Series 1 characters in their original, hand-drawn form.

The rarities of the 10 cards in the boxes mirrored the Series 1 NFT collection, making them highly sought-after collectibles for the VeeFriends community. Collectors could expect to find at least one 1/1 and other limited cards, as well as exclusive chase cards such as Gary Vee 1/1 autographs and “Series 2 Alpha” Sketch cards.

Series 2 trading cards were unveiled in April 2022, a month after the Series 1 VeeFriends x zerocool Premium Trading Cards. These cards were also produced in collaboration with zerocool.

How do you get a box?

The collectible trading cards were available as an added value to the minters of a VeeFriends Series 2 NFT. VeeFriends cards can also be found on secondary marketplaces such as eBay, and traders are also active on Twitter and Discord. They will also be available for purchase from the official VeeFriends booth at the National Sports Collectors Convention from July 26-30 in Chicago (Rosemont)!

What is included in the box?

Within every box, you will find 52 total random cards (13 packs with 4 cards in each). The cards in each box are randomly inserted, so the collector will take note of two things: the character, and the background color.

Understanding the rarity based on background color:

  • Yellow: “Core” cards are marked by a yellow background. While some characters will be harder to find than others, yellow cards are the least rare of the collection.

  • Brown: “Rare” cards are marked by a brown background. There is a limited quantity of 500 brown cards per character.

  • Orange: “Very Rare” cards are marked by an orange background. There is a limited quantity of 100 orange cards per character.

  • Green: “Epics” cards are marked by a green background. There is a limited quantity of only 25 green cards per character.

But wait, there’s more!

For each of the 250 characters in the Series 2 collection, there are limited 1/1 “Spectacular” cards with six special foils: emerald, gold, hologram, bubblegum, diamond, and lava.

If you’re lucky, you might even find limited 1/1 Gary Vee hand-signed cards with holographic foil, or perhaps an original art insert, of which there are 5 of each of the artwork of the Series 1 characters.

What is the utility of the cards?

While these sets can be used as a classic set of collectibles, there is an added utility in that the cards can be used to play a game known as Compete & Collect. This action packed trading card game brings out the competitive side of the VeeFriends characters. Players can choose to play the game for fun, or, in the spirit of competition and embracing the nostalgia of swapping cards, for “keeps”. It's up to the players to decide!

Compete and Collect:

Compete & Collect is a two-player game in which players go head-to-head, flipping their cards individually until the pack is all out on the table. Each character has a score, ranging from 50 to 75, that integrates their aura, skill, and stamina attributes. On top of that, those scores are multiplied based on the card's rarity to get a total score.

Players count to three, and flip one card at a time over. The player with the higher character total score wins and gets to keep the other player’s card. If there is a tie, both players put three cards face down similar to the popular card game "War", and then flip over their fourth card. The player with the higher character score of that card gets to keep all of the cards put down in that round.

VeeFriends UNO:

In partnership with Mattel, VeeFriends UNO is another way that the characters are brought to life in a game. The VeeFriends UNO deck contains 17 signature characters, with each deck containing one randomly inserted spectacular foil card. There are four tiers of rarities that the foil cards come in, and the rarest of them all is the Holo Gary Bee!

VeeFriends UNO follows many of the same rules as traditional Uno, but with a few added twists, such as the "Wild Sharing Squirrel" card, which requires players to share their game on social media with the hashtag #veefriendsuno.

Where can you have your cards graded?

There are plenty of grading companies that are accessible for collectors to have their cards graded by trustworthy experts. Getting cards graded is important because authenticity is the name of the game for card collectors. Card grading companies give scores from 1-10 based on the condition, with a 10 grade being pristine mint. Once a card gets encased and graded by a reputable company, there is no doubt of its authenticity. Having a high score greatly increases the value, which is good for the holder whether or not they are thinking about selling!
