Variety Announces Power of Law Breakfast With Cliff Gilbert-Lurie, Dan Scharf, Kelly Coffey and Neal H. Moritz

Variety has announced the return of the Variety Power of Law Breakfast Presented by City National Bank, taking place Thursday, April 18, in Los Angeles.

The annual event will honor Ziffren Brittenham LLP Co-Managing and Senior Partner Cliff Gilbert-Lurie with the Power of Law Award 2024 for his years of philanthropic commitments and his career achievements. Gilbert-Lurie has served as a past Chairman of and is a current member of the Board of the Alliance for Children’s Rights and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Paley Center for Media, the Peabody Foundation, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDs Foundation, and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. He is also a member of The Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy & Jobs and the UCLA Galactic Center Group.

Speakers at the event include Amazon MGM Studios Head of Global Business Operations Dan Scharf, CEO, City National Entertainment Kelly Coffey, and Producer and Original Film Founder Neal H. Moritz.

Scharf will speak with Variety Co-Editor-in-Chief Cynthia Littleton in a keynote conversation about content deal-making for Amazon MGM Studios. He oversees business affairs, physical production, studio operations, casting, and music for the studio’s television and feature film groups. Since joining the company in 2013, Scharf has spearheaded negotiations for “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “The Boys,” “Coming 2 America” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” among other series and films.

Moritz, who is behind 10 “Fast and Furious” titles and counting, will discuss his creative vision for producing film and TV. His film credits include the two “21 Jump Street” movies, “Goosebumps 1 & 2,” “I Am Legend,” “XXX,” “Click, Sweet Home Alabama,” “The Green Hornet,” “Total Recall,” “Evan Almighty,” “Escape Room,” “Vantage Point,” “Spenser Confidential” and the teen classics “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Cruel Intentions.” He’s also behind the hit TV shows “The Boys” and “Gen V” on Amazon, “S.W.A.T.” on CBS, and “Goosebumps” on Disney+. Upcoming releases include Paramount Pictures’ “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and “Knuckles” for Paramount +.

Coffey will kick off the event with opening remarks.
