Vanna White finally received the pay raise she deserves after signing a new two-year contract on Wheel of Fortune that will keep her around until the 2025-2026 television season. While that substantial pay raise is good news, her lawyer, Bryan Freedman, may have another trick up his sleeve.

Freedman fought for his client during “very difficult negotiations” with Sony, which produces the long-running game show, but he reportedly believes that this shouldn’t have been a battle in the first place, according to TMZ sources. White was earning $3 million a year for her starring role on the show, but she hadn’t received a pay raise in 18 years. That’s a significant difference from her co-host Pat Sajak, who earned $15 million per year. And before anyone wants to argue that Sajak did more work on the show, the Wheel of Fortune gives the dynamic duo equal billing.

White and Sajak come out onto the stage at the top of each episode with the introduction, “Here are the stars of our show, Pat Sajak and Vanna White!” That’s where Freedman entered the chat and really earned his paycheck. He reportedly got a clause removed from White’s contract that releases Sony “from any claims Vanna might have,” according to the media outlet. That means that a lawsuit might be brewing.

Freedman “is mulling over a possible gender discrimination lawsuit” against the studio for a “disparity in pay.” White may sue Sony for the years they billed her as the star, alongside Sajak, but didn’t treat her as such when it came to her check. This will be her final season with Sajak, who is retiring at the end of Season 41 but will be sticking around for the debut of new host Ryan Seacrest in Season 42. White’s possible lawsuit could be a fascinating case to watch.
