Learnicity has grand opening after recently launching financial literacy app

A ribbon cutting was recently held for the Learnicity office in downtown Hagerstown.

Founder and CEO Andrew Keller said Learnicity has a financial literacy app that launched Dec. 22. The "simple and gamified" app provides short lessons about financial literacy, he said. Users who complete these lessons earn "coins" that can be used for free or discounted goods and services from Hagerstown-area participating businesses.

Keller, a 2022 Clear Spring High graduate, said he expects businesses participating with the app to expand to the Tri-State area. It is a marketing opportunity for the businesses.

The free app is available for Android and iOS. Keller said the app collects the user's email, for signing in, as well as the user's gender and age. But he emphasized it does not collect other personal information such as credit card numbers.

Learnicity also recently started "The Learnicity Show" on YouTube, in which Keller interviews business owners that Learnicity partners with to discuss entrepreneurial advice and tips for starting a business in Washington County.

The 6 W. Washington St. office is not available for walk-ins, but by appointment. Keller can be contacted through andrew@learnicity.org.
