Vanessa Lachey's Daughter Brooklyn Tries to Make Mom 'Smile' with Sweet Gift After “NCIS: Hawai'i” Cancellation

Vanessa Lachey's daughter is trying her best to cheer up her mom following some difficult news.

On Sunday, April 28, the actress, 43, shared a photo on her Instagram Stories of herself and her daughter Brooklyn, 9, as the two processed the cancelation news of her show NCIS: Hawai'i. Wearing Mickey ears that read "NC" on one ear and "IS" on the other, the mom of three smiled with her daughter in the photo.

"Trying to explain the news to my daughter ... and she makes me Mickey ears so I can 'smile' 😩," Lachey wrote over the photo. "This decision was bigger than a TV show..."

Over the weekend, the actress, who made history as the franchise's first female lead in the role of Jane Tennant, shared her thoughts after the news that CBS had canceled the series after three seasons broke.

"Gutted, confused, blindsided," Lachey wrote on her Instagram Stories on April 27. "Grateful, confident, beloved fans!"

"Processing this news and still being present with my family. I Love You all!" she continued, before adding, "Mahalo Nui Loa," which translates to "Thank you very much."

The star shares her three kids — daughter Brooklyn and sons Camden, 11, and Phoenix, 7 — with husband Nick Lachey, 50.

In March, Nick shared an Instagram post showing what his day-to-day life looks like when Vanessa is off filming NCIS: Hawai'i.

"On daddy duty while V wraps up filming season 3 of NCIS: Hawai’i, so the kids and I took our spring break trip and went to the [San Diego Zoo]!" Nick wrote in the caption. "We had a blast and learned a lot about their conservation efforts both local and worldwide. If you’re in the area I highly recommend a family trip!!"

Vanessa responded in the comment section, touting her husband of over 12 years as a "super dad" and writing that it would all be worth it in the end.

"Super Dad!" the mom of three wrote. "I Love You so much! And… payback will be worth it! 😏❤️."
