Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram to call out Meek Mill over a line that many viewed as being disrespectful to late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. The lyrics in question, which appeared to reference the Jan. 26, 2020 helicopter crash Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died in, caught the attention of the internet last week after surfacing online.
“Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe,” Meek is thought to have rapped on the unreleased Lil Baby collab.
“Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” Vanessa Bryant wrote on her IG Stories on Monday night. “I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better that this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”
Several hours later, Meek’s official answer came on Twitter. “I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public...Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman!” he wrote. “If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”

Prior to that explanation—and just minutes after Vanessa Bryant shared her post—Meek tweeted-and-deleted, “I’m going back savage in this shit…f#%k ya feelings!” He followed that with more tweets that remain on his page, including remarks like, “Ion trust people gotta play it raw,” “head taps for n#%ga tryna pull my card,” and “it becomes a trend to hate on me every once in a while but I feed off that shit ima beast literally.”
It was unclear if those tweets were in response to Vanessa’s message.

Also unclear were tweets Meek sent out this past Thursday as criticism of the Philly rapper reached a crescendo over the Kobe line.
“Somebody promo a narrative and y’all follow it….y’all internet antics cannot stop me….shit like zombie land or something! Lol,” Meek wrote at the time.
