'Vanderpump Rules' Restaurant Sued For Allegedly Causing Patron To Be Hospitalized With Extreme Food Poisoning

The restaurant made popular by the television show "Vanderpump Rules" has been sued by a woman who claims she became so violently ill after eating, she vomited and defecated right at the table.

According to the documents obtained by The Blast, the woman arrived in Los Angeles with her family for a vacation. She says without eating anything else, the group made their way on August 19, 2017 to SUR Restaurant, famously owned by Lisa Vanderpump from "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

According to the suit, after eating "white fish covered with an orange cream sauce on her plate, along with broccoli and potatoes...one hour into eating her meal, [her] head suddenly whipped back, causing her body to move backwards as well, as she felt a hot sensation rise from her stomach, into her chest and then into her throat that she was unable to control."

She continued, "Her head came forward while vomit filled her mouth, and [she] began vomiting profusely."

After allegedly falling to the floor on her knees, "she continued to vomit and also defecate through her clothing."

Shockingly, the woman says she "was unable to stop vomiting or defecating as she kneeled on the floor, causing [her] clothing to soil."

To add insult to injury, she claims in the lawsuit, while lying on the floor, "staff members of [SUR] came over and began throwing water on [her] and on the ground around her but did not offer any further assistance."

Someone from the family called 911 and the woman was taken out on a stretcher and transported to Cedars Sinai Emergency Department.

The lawsuit claims the woman spent three days in intensive care and five total days in the hospital, before being cleared to fly home.

The suit points out that SUR has been accused of causing food poisoning before and she believes this is what caused her extreme illness. Several reviews about food poisoning online were included in the suit.

It was also pointed out in the lawsuit, SUR was "inspected by the Health Department on or around July 14, 2017, during which the Health Inspector found seven (7) violations, including unclean food contact surfaces, the presence of rodents, insects, birds and/or other animals, and substandard equipment and utensils."

SUR is featured prominently on reality shows "Vanderpump Rules" and "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and, according to their website, is a joint partnership between couples Guillermo Zapata and his wife and Lisa Vanderpump and her husband.

Co-owner Natalie Zapata tells us, "SUR has been in business for 15 years and Serves over 150,000 patrons a year. We have maintained our A RATING from the Department of Health and have regular checks from the Health Department. We have no record of this ever happening."

She added, "And if someone had vomited and defecated on the floor it would have immediately been reported to the health department and would have been on our cameras or others.”
