Vampire Weekend Announce Signature Taco

Vampire Weekend have teamed up with HomeState, a Texas kitchen in Los Angeles, to launch a new taco for charity. The “Vegetarian Weekend” is a veggie fajita taco that features shiitake mushrooms, red and yellow bell peppers, guacamole, cotija cheese, and fresh cilantro, all folded into an organic corn tortilla.

The signature taco, priced at $5, will be available starting tomorrow (August 1) through the end of October. All proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles branch of PATH (People Assisting the Homeless). The first five customers to purchase a Vegetarian Weekend at each of HomeState’s locations (Hollywood, Highland Park & Playa Vista) will receive the below poster, designed by Mallory Cohn.

With the Vegetarian Weekend, Vampire Weekend are carrying on a long tradition of rock tacos; in recent years, Spoon and Best Coast partnered with HomeState to fashion charity tacos of their own.

Vampire Weekend released their long-awaited LP Father of the Bride earlier this year. Read “Everything Vampire Weekend Have Done Since Modern Vampires of the City” over on the Pitch.
