“The Vampire Diaries” Star Michael Trevino Announces Christmas Eve Engagement to Model Bregje Heinen

The actor shared the happy news on Saturday, along with some stunning photos of the couple in Amsterdam

Michael Trevino is engaged!

The Vampire Diaries star, 38, shared the happy news on Saturday via a joint Instagram post with his fiancée, Dutch model Bregje Heinen.

"12 . 24 . 23 🤍💍," they wrote, revealing their Christmas Eve engagement.

The post featured four photos of the couple posing in Amsterdam including a shot of them cozied up on a bench by one of the city's famous canals. Another black-and-white image showed Trevino kissing Heinen, 30, on the head while they clasped their hands together, offering a glimpse of Heinen's oval-shaped diamond ring.

Several of Trevino's The Vampire Diaries costars left congratulatory messages in the comment section of the post including Candice King, who wrote, "YESSSS!!!! ❤️. Congratulations you guys!!!!!"

Nina Dobrev commented, "🥰😍🥰🥰🥰🥰 so happy for you both!” while Kayla Ewell cheered the news with, “You guys!!! So excited for you!! We love you!”

Trevino also got some love from his former Roswell, New Mexico castmates. "HE DID IT! Congrats you two 😘😘😘," Jeanine Mason wrote. Lily Cowles commented, “Congratulations!!!! The most beautiful couple, the angels are crying 😍.”

On Sunday, Heinen shared more photos of herself and Trevino along with highlights from their visit to Amsterdam. One image showed three film strips of loved-up photos of the pair, while another featured Heinen's hand by a cappuccino with her diamond sparkler on display. The couple also posed for a mirror selfie together.

Over the years, the actor has offered rare glimpses into his relationship with Heinen. Back in January 2021, he marked their anniversary by sharing a series of photos of himself and his then-girlfriend enjoying an array of outdoor activities including skiing, ATV riding and hiking.

"It’s been a year of adventures. Thanks for keeping up with me. Happy Anniversary @bregjeheinen ❤️," he wrote at the time.

In her own anniversary post, Heinen wrote, "Couldn’t wish for a better partner! Life is more fun with you🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏻‍♂️. Happy anniversary baby ❤️."

More recently, the duo teamed up on a work project — a short film called Jo, set in the Old West. Trevino posted a carousel of photos from the movie shoot showing him and Heinen in character in November 2022.

When Heinen celebrated her birthday in March 2023, she posted a photo showing her and Trevino kissing by a large cake adorned with candles.

"Feeling so blessed and grateful to celebrate my birthday with some very special people 🙏🏼🤍," she captioned the Instagram post.
