Valerie Bertinelli

Valerie Bertinelli didn't mince words with her opinion of the current state of Food Network.

Her statement simmered out in response to a post on Threads that harked back on the time when the channel hosted "actual cooking shows" and criticized the network for its apparent trend in "competition shows" as the focus of its programming. Bertinelli, 63, reposted the message in agreeance and called out the decision, describing it as "sad."

“I fell in love with Food Network two decades ago because of all the amazing ITK (in the kitchen) shows. 30 minute meals, Ina [Garten], Giada [De Laurentiis]…the list goes on,” she wrote. “I learned so much. It’s sad it’s not about cooking and learning any longer. Oh well, that’s just business, folks.”

Part of that "business" apparently included cutting the celebrity chef from not one but two of her shows in the past year.

Back in April 2023, Bertinelli mourned the loss of her Food Network series, Valerie's Home Cooking, which premiered in 2015 and ran for 14 seasons until it was suddenly canceled without reason by the network, according to the star.

"Food network canceled us last summer," the One Day at a Time alum expressed at the time, adding, "I have no idea why. I didn’t say anything last summer because honestly, I was hoping they would change their mind. But they have not, so um, this is it. This is the final season.”

About nine months later, Bertinelli once again found herself on the chopping block as she announced she had been cut from the cast of Kids Baking Championship after 12 seasons.
