Who is Valerie Bertinelli’s mystery man? Fans don’t have the answer to that yet, but the 63-year-old actress can’t stop gushing about her new romance with an East Coast writer. Their friendship has been going on for several years now, but she just revealed how fresh their dating situation is.
Bertinelli seems to be enjoying the dizzying rush of those early days in a relationship. “I’m glad it’s happening. But it’s like, what the heck is happening? It’s a seesaw of emotions,” she admitted to People while sharing that it is “unlike any connection I’ve ever felt.” With butterflies in her stomach at the mere mention of her man, she described him as “mature, kind, thoughtful, patient” — and also 10 years younger than her. The Hot in Cleveland star said their “strictly platonic” relationship began with an Instagram comment several years ago. “There was something about him that I connected with that felt familiar. A comfort level,” she added. “He felt like a kindred spirit.” Once he began sliding into her DMs “every few months,” a friendship was born. By January, the social media interactions turned into phone calls even though Bertinelli was “very guarded” about the situation after her divorce from Tom Vitale. “His voice had the most beautiful timbre. I was like ‘Oh, I can’t talk to this man right now because that’s really sexy.’ We both had strong feelings, trying not to admit them,” she said of her smitten status.
That’s when Bertinelli took a leap of faith and met up with her mystery man in early March in New York City. It sounds like they were both ready for romance. “I just jump out of the car, and I run to him, and I hug him,” she divulged. “It was the best hug. I immediately felt like I was home. This is where I belong, in this man’s arms. It all feels incredibly right.” There’s no denying that Bertinelli has fallen head over heels for her boyfriend — and the dynamic duo has already established their first relationship rule.
They won’t let more than three weeks pass without seeing each other. Bertinelli has reached a time in her life when “it’s about finding the joy in life and sharing it.” She’s sharing her love bubble with the world right now, even if fans don’t quite know his identity yet.
