Virginia Tech’s Justin Fuente got a Gatorade bath after his team lost the Camping World Bowl.

Yes, really. But he didn’t get it from his own team. He was the unfortunate collateral damage of Oklahoma State players’ ill-timed attempt to douse OSU coach Mike Gundy.

Cowboys players were late on the draw at the end of OSU’s 30-21 win. So as Gundy walked to midfield to shake Fuente’s hand — quickly, perhaps in an attempt to avoid getting wet — OSU players snuck up from behind and got Gundy right as he met up with Fuente.

Oh boy. Fuente undoubtedly wanted a Gatorade bath under winning circumstances. And while the attack was in his line of sight, we’re guessing he didn’t see it coming, because he clearly didn’t react until it was too late.

At least the Gatorade was orange, which is a color of Virginia Tech. Yeah, that’s a stretch. We’re trying to find a bright spot here.
