EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed Swedish screenwriter, series creator and showrunner Lisa Ambjörn (Young Royals) for representation in all areas.

Recently named one of Deadline’s Five Rising European Scribes to Watch Out For in 2024, Ambjörn is known for authentically capturing youth culture in her work across both comedy and drama. She broke through to international audiences after creating and showrunning Netflix’s hit teen drama Young Royals, the third and final season of which was released in March of this year.

More from Deadline

Young Royals follows the story of Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding), who is sent to the prestigious Hillerska boarding school following a public scandal. As he navigates the pressures of royal duty and the complexities of adolescence, Wilhelm forms unexpected friendships and finds himself drawn to Simon (Omar Rudberg), a talented scholarship student. Their budding relationship challenges both Wilhelm’s sense of duty and Simon’s desire for acceptance in a world where social class and tradition reign supreme.

The show’s first season reached Netflix’s Top 10 TV in 12 countries, with the second hitting that mark in 26. Young Royals Forever, a special released alongside the finale, also charted in several countries.

Ambjörn’s first original series was the critically acclaimed comedy Sjukt (Sick), inspired by her experience of surviving cancer. Prior to working in the narrative space, she made documentaries in Congo Kinshasa, Palestine, and Western Sahara. After graduating The Stockholm University of the Arts in screenwriting in 2018, she worked as a script editor for the drama department at Swedish public network SVT, around the same time landing her first head writer job on SVT’s comedy drama Dreaming of England.

Ambjörn continues to be represented by Anonymous Content.
