Ashlyn Harris and her wife Ali Krieger are ending their marriage.

Harris, 37, filed for divorce from Krieger, 39, on Sept. 19 in Florida, PEOPLE confirmed via the Seminole County Clerk's website.

Representatives for Harris and Krieger did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The USWNT players — who share two kids: daughter Sloane, 2½, and son Ocean, 14 months — have been married for nearly four years after tying the knot on Dec. 28, 2019.

When the two soccer players met while playing for the United States National Team in 2010, they instantly “clicked” and became “really close friends.”

“We always sat next to each other on the bus and on flights, and we kind of just talked about our dreams and our hopes and what we wanted to do one day when we grew up. Because at the time, we were kids,” Harris exclusively told PEOPLE to announce their engagement in 2019. “The rest has kind of been history. Here we are nine years later, and we’re going to be getting married this year.”

The couple, both Orlando Pride players at the time, decided to keep their romance on the down low in order to not “create a distraction” for their teammates and the franchise. But fans could already pick up on the subtle relationship, giving them the couple name “Krashlyn."

After Harris popped the question at Clearwater Beach, the two wed in 2019 in Florida. This followed the couple's participation in the U.S. women’s national soccer team win at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.

Of the wedding, Harris noted its significance with regard to inclusion.

“This will be the first time in our relationship where all of our friends, all of our family are going to come together to be one and to celebrate us on a completely different level,” Harris told PEOPLE at the time. “I think so much of our support from our family and friends have been through soccer and this is just so much more meaningful, in my opinion, to be celebrated for love and acceptance and inclusion, that’s so major in the world we live in now.”

On their first wedding anniversary in 2020, Krieger posted a loving nod to Harris on Instagram, which also included wedding photos exclusively debuted by PEOPLE at the time.

“Our first year of marriage got very v weird, but we made it through together — crying, smiling and laughing through the difficult moments and sharing an even closer bond than ever before," Krieger wrote. "Spending A LOT of quality time with you this year has made me love you even more and more each day."

The couple welcomed their baby daughter Sloane via adoption in 2021, just a few months before they were both traded to soccer team Gotham FC. A year later, they also adopted a second baby, a son named Ocean, in August 2022.

"I feel like I've had a lot of job titles and cool job titles — professional athlete, world champion — but being a mom for sure surpasses it all," Harris reflected. "This has been one of the most rewarding, incredible experiences I've ever done in my life. And being able to do it with Ali has just been the coolest moment of my life, truthfully," she continued. "We're just really, really happy and we're just glowing."
