When there's a will, there's a way — just ask Usher's son Naviyd, who just officially became PinkPantheress's most successful fan.
On April 24, Usher took to his Instagram stories to share a very entertaining story time involving his son Naviyd and his favorite artist, PinkPantheress. “So...a week or so ago, my son, Naviyd, stole my phone so he could DM his favorite artist PinkPantheress,” Usher recounted on a slide. “Now I just so happened to check my DMs earlier this past week and saw a message exchange from someone with a Powerpuff girl as their profile pic...so I'm like, the hell is this? I open it, and I'm like, oh, this boy done DMd this girl from my d*mn phone...”
Usher provided actual screenshots of the conversation, which started with Naviyd sharing PinkPantheress's son “Do You Miss Me?” on Usher's stories, then swiftly sliding into her DMs proclaiming he was her biggest fan and asking for a follow back. PinkPantheress replied, which made Naviyd freak out and Usher had to intervene: “I'm so sorry ... my son is a super fan.”
Instead of accepting the apology, PinkPantheress invited both Usher and Naviyd to attend one of her shows, as she's currently touring around the U.S. and Canada. Was Usher going to let him go? Of course, but he couldn't just say that from the get-go. “Because he did the MOST just to connect with her on my account, I had to act like he wasn't allowed to go... BUT...because my son is a such a fan of her artistry...I decided to let him go,” the singer recounted.
The next slide was another DM screenshot from Usher to PinkPantheress: “My son is at [your] show tonight. I had to send him considering his level of dedication and creativity to figure out getting your attention through stealing my phone... That's commitment. Hopefully you guys get to link.”
And link they did. After the concert, Naviyd took to his IG to post multiple photos together. He also posted a TikTok with PinnkPantheress, and the duo even had time to FaceTime Usher from backstage.
Of course, Naviyd's new profile picture is now a picture of himself with PinkPantheress and his bio also pays homage to the singer, reading “PinkPantheress fan 4 lifee 🤞🏾.”
With Naviyd confirmed to be PinkPantheress's most successful fan, Usher ended his story time with a “parental takeaway,” writing: “This was a great moment for Naviyd. This was him [moving] on something he was passionate about. Yes... he violated my trust in the process, and for that, I will never trust him around my phone, but I should have known better. Nonetheless, I appreciate the hustle and [his making] it happen. From a text, to a concert, to the artist. He masterminded this whole thing and made it happen. #HustleHard.”
