Usher was just as “disappointed” as disgruntled fans and Lovers & Friends Fest organizers when the event was abruptly cancelled on Friday (May 3).

In an effort to make the most out of an unfortunate situation, the crooner held a pop-up concert titled “Bad Girl: 20 Years Of Confessions” at the Aria’s Jewel Nightclub. Ursher packed out the 1,900-capacity nightclub and commemorated his magnum opus alongside friend-collaborator, Lil Jon.

TMZ reported that Usher, draped in all-white, arrived at the nightclub hours after the cancellation and aptly performed “Lovers And Friends.” Usher was supposed to perform Confessions in its entirety for the first time at Lovers & Friends for its 20th anniversary.

At Remy Martin’s unofficial Lovers & Friends after-party, guests enjoyed a special DJ set from Jermaine Dupri and a surprise performance from T.I.. “If you came here for Lovers & Friends, make some noise….This IS Lovers & Friends you hear me,” said the rapper before performing “What You Know.”

Attendees at this event included Chance The Rapper, Fabolous, Paula DeAnda, and the Ying Yang Twins.

Elsewhere, Ja Rule, Ashanti, and Jadakiss took over the LIV nightclub with their pop-up concert.

When Lovers & Friends got cancelled following a “High Wind” advisory, Usher and many other artists from the lineup reacted to the shocking news.

“Mannn… I’m just as disappointed as you are,” said Usher.

Janet Jackson tweeted, “We are heartbroken we won’t be able to see you tonight at Lovers & Friends due to the possibility of dangerous winds […] The show would have also marked our last before we shift gears to the summer leg of the tour. We trust in God’s plan and find light in knowing we’ll be together again soon.”

Kelly Rowland expressed how “gutted” she was along with Ciara and JoJo. There’s currently no word on whether or not Lovers & Friends Fest will return in 2025.
