Usher’s Las Vegas Residency Comes To An Emotional End: Watch

Usher’s Las Vegas residency came to an end on Saturday (Dec. 2) after 100 shows over the past two and a half years. During the final show of the My Way residency, fans caught the crooner, 45, getting emotional during the closing performance of “Without You.”

Shirtless, dressed only in a pair of silver pants, Ursher dropped to his knees while being surrounded by his dancers and on-stage crew. He, then, led an a cappella chant from the 2011 David Guetta-led track. Towards the end of the clip, Usher stated, “God bless you; I love you.”

The My Way residency kicked off in July 2021, months before the 25th anniversary of his sophomore album of the same name.

Later on Twitter, a video surfaced from a 2004 BBC Radio 1 interview with Trevor Nelson. The host urged him to never have a Vegas residency in the 20 years that followed and even then, Usher dispelled the negative connotations surrounding a Sin City residency.

“I am such a theatrical artist. I would love to be in a space — if I did decide to go to Las Vegas, it would be the most phenomenal thing you’ve ever seen in your life,” said the then 25-year-old superstar.

Usher continued, “It wouldn’t be like, ‘Oh God, he’s washed up and this is just his opportunity to just, you know, collect as many checks as he wants to.’ No. It will be a phenomenal show.”

When coming across the viral clip, the Confessions star praised his early manifestation when writing, “I saw it then… look at me now.” Nelson responded, “Yes usher did see it and Vegas has definitely changed .Respect to him. I wish I could’ve made it to the show.”

Usher will return to Vegas for his unofficial 101st show on February 11, 2024 with his Super Bowl LVIII Halftime performance. His new album, Coming Home, is slated to drop the same day.
