19 years ago in August 2004, Usher released “My Boo” featuring Alicia Keys from the deluxe edition of his diamond-certified magnum opus, Confessions.

Ahead of its 20th anniversary, the former collaborators teased a potential remake on Twitter. When asked by a fan about a sequel, the New York native tweeted a series of looking-eye emojis and tagged Ursher and Jermaine Dupri. The “Good Good” crooner coyly replied, “What we doin’?”

Produced by Dupri and Manuel Seal, “My Boo” was a romantic ode to eternal young love between ex-lovers that stemmed from the Usher-assisted remix of Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” — which was released overseas. The cult classic, additionally, sparked dating rumors between the two singers while it peaked to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and continued to top the chart for six weeks. It also earned them two Grammy nominations for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, winning the latter. Keys took home the Best R&B Song win as a solo act for “You Don’t Know My Name.”

This year, for the 20th anniversary of The Diary Of Alicia Keys, she rereleased her entire discography in spatial audio for Apple Music, including a new orchestral rendition of “If I Ain’t Got You” for Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton series. For the King of R&B, he reissued his sophomore album, My Way, for its 25th anniversary last year. So, there’s hope that the two will commemorate this anniversary in an exciting way.

This “My Boo” sequel tease comes on the heels of Usher announcing the final dates of his beloved Las Vegas residency. After his brief Paris run, he will return to Sin City in October until early December.
