'This Is Us' seriously delivers and causes fans to bawl hysterically

This Is Us really gave us all the feels Tuesday night when flashbacks showed Randall and Beth Pearson welcoming their first child into the world. The episode began with a 20-something year old Randall experiencing anxiety two months after having a total nervous breakdown while his wife Beth was pregnant with their first child, whom we now know as Tess. While at a hardware store, Randall decided to open up to a clerk about his fears of becoming a new father and, after the employee basically told him that once the baby comes he'll have all the answers he needs, the tears began to stream. Randall rushed home when his mother Rebecca called with news that Beth was going into labor and, after what seemed like a super quick and easy birth, we were then treated to bittersweet exchange between Randall and his mother as Rebecca told him, "That was one of the happiest moments of my life. But also your dad isn't here. And that's just something I'm gonna have to deal with for the rest of my life. The happiest moments will also be a little sad." While the realization that Jack is no longer alive to experience these big milestones with the rest of the Pearson family hit hard, there were some happy moments as well. But even the happy This Is Us moments make us cry. How do they do it? After a very powerful final act of the show in which flashbacks of a young Rebecca meeting baby Randall and speaking to him for the first time in the hospital overlapped a new-grandmother Rebecca meeting and speaking to Tess for the first time, fans totally lost it. One fan on Twitter shared, "How does every episode of This Is Us leave me feeling like this?!" While another tweeted, "54 minutes!! I lasted 54 minutes before the tears came. @NBCThisisUs gets me every time!"
