The Hunting Wives, which has started production in Charlotte, North Carolina, follows Sophie O’Neill (Snow), who moves with her family from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank’s (Akerman) irresistible charms — and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.

This Is Us star Metz will play Starr, a proud working-class woman who’s active in her church and whose daughter, Abby, is dating the star point guard Brad (Ferrier, Netflix’s Sweet Tooth), but who isn’t welcome in the high-society world of the Hunting Wives. That leads to clashes with Brad’s mother, Jill, played by Lowes (Scandal, Inventing Anna), the wife of a minister and queen of the mega church who is overly invested in her son’s life.

Ferrier’s Brad is outwardly the perfect all-Texan boy with bright future, but he’s the keeper of many secrets, including the “emotionally incestous” relationship with his mother and an affair with one of his mom’s best friends.

Newman (Dopesick, Little Fires Everywhere) will play Callie, the wife of the town’s powerful sheriff and second in command of the Hunting Wives behind Margo. She’s also deeply in love with Margo and becomes jealous of newcomer Sophie.

Rebecca Cutter (Starz’s Hightown) is adapting Cobb’s novel and will serve as showrunner on The Hunting Wives. She executive produces with Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts and Cobb.

Newman is repped by The Burstein Company and Greene Talent. Lowes is repped by Gersh, Framework Entertainment, The Lede Company and Schreck Rose. Ferrier is with Circle of Confusion and Odd Management.
