Citing an ongoing search for a new location, the owner of Urban Eats Bistro in Jacksonville plans to close the neighborhood seafood and fish restaurant on Friday, March 4.

Open for about three years, the restaurant at 715 N. McDuff Ave. offers an eclectic menu, including seafood and fish specials, bento boxes, sandwiches, wraps, chicken wings and sides.

The restaurant announced the closure on its Facebook page Tuesday.

"We have provided quality Urban food for the last 3 years and we are thankful and blessed to have been able to do so. Thank you for making Urban Eats Bistro one of Jacksonville's most popular eating establishments. Thank you for your loyal patronage over the last few years and during the pandemic. Please continue to follow our journey and stay tuned for what's next."

The McDuff location is outdated and no longer suitable for the restaurant's needs, bistro owner Jenay Quarterman told the Times-Union on Tuesday.

"Right now, I'm working on looking for a new building," said Quarterman, who expressed optimism that they would find a new location.

Duval County Property Appraiser records show that the McDuff Avenue property was bought for $620,000 by North Bridge Connect LLC of Las Vegas in a sale recorded June 28, 2021.

North Bridge officials couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.
