Dave Kroupa said he felt a spark when he met Cari Farver in 2012.

The Nebraska father of two had just gotten out of a relationship with his longtime girlfriend when he met the 37-year-old single mother from Iowa, but he wasn't looking for anything serious.

On their first date, “I made it clear I was absolutely not going to be tied down,” he says in the upcoming Netflix documentary, Lover Stalker Killer, which began streaming today. (A trailer is shown below.)

Farver seemed to have no problem with that. “She says, ‘Look. This is just fun,’” says Kroupa. “And I was like, ‘Oh, my God. Yes. I'm in.’”

Making the most of his newfound bachelor status, Kroupa had also entered the online dating world.

“That's when Liz came into my life,” says Kroupa. “She was very smiley, energetic. She liked motorcycles. I had a motorcycle. That was a match made in heaven.”

Now with two promising women in his life, Kroupa was living his dating dream.

Then, one morning, he got a text from Farver's number.

"You’ve ruined my life," read one.

"I can see you at work," read another.

"I will destroy your life and take your happiness," read yet another.

The texts kept coming. And coming. And now, the carefree dating life Kroupa had tried to create for himself descended into a hellish nightmare — with a deadly ending and a twist he never saw coming.

“I was on the road to having a mental breakdown,” he says.
