The Upcoming Fox Spirit Matchmaker Trilogy: Everything You Need to Know

Network giant iQIYI has unveiled the cast details and synopsis for the three upcoming Fox Spirit Matchmaker dramas. These anticipated shows will not only offer stunning visuals and enchanting storylines but also boast star-studded casts. All three Xianxia dramas have been adapted from the famous manhua “Hu Yao Xiao Hong Niang” by Tuo Xiao Xin. The three parts of the trilogy are – Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact, Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Sword and Beloved, and Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Love in Pavilion.

1. Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact

This Fox Spirit Matchmaker series features popular actors Yang Mi and Gong Jun in the main roles. It follows the story of Tushan Hong Hong (Yang Mi), a fox spirit of the Tushan Fox Clan. Defying the rule of nature, she falls in love with Dongfang Yue Chu (Gong Jun), a young man from the human clan. Tushan Hong Hong saves Yue Chu from his lifelong enemy. They form an alliance to eliminate all the evil forces and embark on a journey to establish harmony between their clans.

The cast trailer for the much-anticipated drama exudes unparalleled chemistry between the two leads. Cristy Guo, Wei Zhe Ming, and Hu Lian Xin complete the exciting cast line-up.

2. Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Sword and Beloved

This installment of the Fox Spirit Matchmaker trilogy features Cheng Yi and Li Yi Tong in the lead roles. The dominant genre of this drama is tragedy, which follows the painful love story of a legendary warrior and a spirit. Wangquan Fu Gui (Cheng Yi) was considered an irreplaceable soldier, but he experiences pain like no other after falling in love with an unknown spirit named Qing Tong (Li Yi Tong).

Apart from Cheng Yi’s striking role, the drama also marks Li Yi Tong’s debut as a lead actor. Guo Jun Chen, He Rui Xian, Chang Hua Sen, Zhang Kai Ying, and Tong Meng Shi will also appear in pivotal roles in the drama.

3. Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Love in Pavilion

Featuring Liu Shi Shi and Leon Zhang in the main roles, this drama tells the tale of an unlikely alliance between two families belonging to two fighting sects. Dongfang Huai Zhu (Liu Shi Shi) and Wangquan Hong Ye (Leon Zhang), the two leaders of the two major families, work together to establish peace between humans and demons. Although their people are at war against each other, they wish to revive the unity alliance.

Eventually, they fall in love and make a promise of eternal kinship. The recently released trailer shows the two leads flaunting their wedding attire and celebrating the joyous occasion. But their happiness does not last long, as the next scene shows them engulfed in anguish. Will they be able to overcome menaces that threaten their unity?

Other than the lead actors, many popular faces of the C-drama world, like Wu Xuan Yi, Zhai Xiao Wen, Shen Yue, Ding Yu Xi, Zhang Ruo Nan, and Meng Zi Yi, are also acting in this drama.

All three parts of the much-awaited Fox Spirit Matchmaker trilogy will be available for streaming on iQIYI.
