An incredibly rare albino hummingbird was spotted in Alabama, proving, once again, that nature is full of surprises.
Deborah Aldridge was in her Cordova backyard when she noticed the unusually colored bird, according to House Beautiful. The woman managed to take a 52-second video of the bird as it jumps from one feeder to another. Since then, the footage has gone viral, with multiple outlets sharing it on Facebook in recent days.
Albino hummingbirds have white feathers, along with pink eyes, bill and feet, Hummingbird Central notes. Since last year, just 18 albino hummingbirds have been recorded, making it more difficult to spot than leucistic — or patchily colored — hummingbirds, according to the website. Furthermore, hummingbirds are known to eat almost half their body weight in nectar and bugs.
