Until The Ribbon Breaks‘ Pete Lawrie Winfield has a very close relationship with Run The Jewels‘ seminal second album. From the bombastic production to the hard-hitting rhymes to the incredible features, every element of Run the Jewels 2 has impacted him both personally and professionally.

On this episode of The Spark Parade, Winfield shares the story of how he had a front-row seat to the creation of the album, and how it changed the course of his life and career. “During that time, I was trying to get sober and all of these things, so that whole period is this strange fever dream,” he explains. “[Being behind the scenes for the recording of the album], it goes without saying, was such a positive and wild experience.”

Winfield goes on to tell the story of how he linked up with the rap duo, the silly origins of their studio Comic Sands, and more.
