Univision Taps Lourdes Diaz To Oversee Entertainment Productions

Univision Communications’ Chief News, Entertainment & Digital Officer Issac Lee just picked two new execs to help run the company’s entertainment operation.

He named Lourdes Diaz as President, Entertainment where she’ll look for strategic acquisitions and develop “new content formats,” the company says. And Adrian Santucho is the new EVP of Univision Studios, where he’ll report to Diaz. He’ll oversee productions and “work closely with Televisa on production-related initiatives.”

Diaz comes to Univision from Comedy Central International’s Global Production and Development operation. She commissioned scripted and non-scripted productions, and served as Executive Producer of series including I Live with Models, Brotherhood, Medics, and Wasteman.

Diaz “has a proven track record of curating fresh and exciting new programming that attracts diverse audiences,” Lee says.

Santucho’s productions include La Banda, Sí Se Puede, 100 Latinos Dijeron, and México Tiene Talento.

The two execs will “further strengthen our in-house production capabilities and develop new multi-genre content and original productions through Univision Studios,” Lee says.

He was promoted to his job in July and oversees the company’s content on all platforms and continue to monitor Fusion, El Rey, the Root, the Onion, A.V. Club, Clickhole, Flama, Univision Digital and Univision Music.
