Univision Signs Deal With BroadbandTV to Manage YouTube Channels

Univision Communications has signed a pact with multiplatform network BroadbandTV to help amplify the Hispanic media company’s 16 YouTube channels and manage all of its fan-uploaded content.

BBTV will provide content-management services for Univision Digital’s YouTube channels with content from popular shows including telenovelas “La Rosa de Guadalupe” and “Como Dice el Dicho,” reality singing competition “La Banda,” and news program “Primer Impacto.”

RTL Group-owned BroadbandTV’s roster of clients for content management services include the NBA, Warner Bros., Viacom, Sony Pictures Entertainment, FremantleMedia, Nitro Circus, Omnifilm, Team Kimbo and Cinedigm. The company, using its proprietary Viso Novi tracking system and YouTube’s Content ID system, claims rights to more than 250,000 new fan-uploaded videos on behalf of its clients per month.

“The growing Hispanic demographic in particular has huge potential, and it will remain a strategic focus for BBTV as we continue to expand our business and global operations,” said BroadbandTV founder and CEO Shahrzad Rafati.

Sameer Deen, senior VP of digital for Univision, said the goal is to boost YouTube video views and audience engagement. “BroadbandTV’s expertise and technology solutions will allow our fans to share and engage with their favorite shows,” he said.

Vancouver-based BroadbandTV operates a network of 85,000 content creators who amass 18.2 billion monthly impressions, making it the industry’s biggest multiplatform network.
