University Study Determines Superman Is Most 'Equipped' Hero, Batman Not So Much

The University of Leicester released a seven-year, scientifically researched study about a handful of superheroes and made some interesting and, well, blatantly obvious observations when it comes to our caped crusaders.

One discovery few will find surprising was that Superman is the “best-equipped” superhero due to his numerous powers and “possession of high-density muscle tissue.” There was no mention of his greatest ability of all — having a mother named Martha. Am I right Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice viewers?

Speaking of Batman v Superman, the study makes it seem like a showdown between DC’s two most beloved characters wouldn’t be a fair fight. They determined that Batman is the most “ill-equipped” hero. Despite his useful gadgets, scary voice, and ability to make people wonder where he went, his complete lack of superhuman abilities is his greatest flaw.

After Superman, the kids in Leicester determined that Wolverine is Marvel Comics’ most-equipped hero. He was followed by Thor, Mystique, and then back to DC with the Flash in fifth. All five heroes were particularly celebrated for their regenerative capabilities.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the study was that Black Bolt, a lesser-known Marvel character who is ruler of the Inhumans, was determined to be the most “destructive” hero. He can unleash mighty power with his voice, even if it’s just a whisper.

The study does not include every hero. Wonder Woman, Doctor Manhattan of Watchmen fame, Green Lantern, and Storm are just some that weren’t included. But the biggest flaw of this study is how it ranks Batman. Nobody beats Batman. Why? Because he’s Batman.
