“We recently acquired land in Bedford and are at the early stages of exploring its feasibility for a potential park and resort at this site. It will be many months before we are ready to make a decision to proceed and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community,” said a spokesperson for Universal Destinations & Experiences.

The U.K. make sense for its large population, creative industries, strong tourism, and transportation infrastructure with close proximity to other parts of Europe. Bedford itself is well connected to London, about 45 minutes outside the city. The site is near Luton airport.

The Comcast division has been expanding its offerings, including recently breaking ground on a theme park for young kids and families in Frisco, Texas. Core parks included the Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan, Universal Beijing Resort and Universal Studios Singapore.
