Glamping but make it for dining. That’s kind of the idea behind Camp Out, a new outdoor dining concept and the latest evolution of food programming at Yard Bar. The restaurant and bar features outdoor amenities like fire pits, covered seating, cooling fans, televisions, a playground and play turf area with a soccer net and more.

The space includes bunting flags and camping lanterns, with some dishes served on iron skillets to enhance the camp vibes. Camp Out intends to offer family-friendly programming in the fall such as s’mores nights, campfire stories, projector movie nights on the lawn and outdoor games.

Camp Out, which is adjacent to dog-park-bar Yard Bar (6700 Burnet Road), celebrates its grand opening from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday with complimentary s’mores.

Chef Candace Landberg, a longtime veteran of Cenote, oversees the menu at the restaurant/bar from owner Kristen Heaney Clark, who opened Yard Bar in 2015. Landberg is calling her menu “Campfire Fusion,” and it includes an espresso-rubbed burger made with beef from 44 Farms and a banh mi hot dog. And, yes, there are snacks for your canine friends, as well.

Cocktails include the “Easy Peasy” featuring Tito’s Handmade Vodka, fresh-squeezed lemon juice and Rambler, and “The Camp Out Ranch Water” made with Hornitos Silver, Rambler and fresh-squeezed lime juice.
