‘The Undoing’: Nicole Kidman Will Star in Another HBO Murder Mystery Series Written by David E. Kelley

The last time Nicole Kidman and David E. Kelley partnered on an HBO miniseries based on a novel, it spawned a hit so big that the network greenlit a second season. Now the pair are looking to strike “Big Little Lies” gold again with “The Undoing,” a new limited series with literary origins.

Adapted from Jean Hanff Korelitz’s “You Should Have Known,” “The Undoing” will star Kidman as Grace Sachs, a New York therapist with her first book on the brink of being published. Without warning, her husband goes missing, and a brutal murder helps call into question the life and family she once thought she had.

Kelley will serve as writer and showrunner. The “Big Little Lies” executive producing team of Per Saari, Bruna Papandrea, Kelley, and Kidman will all reunite for “The Undoing” as well.

In a statement, Kidman said, “David has created another propulsive series with a fascinating, complicated female role at its center. I’m excited and honored to continue collaborating with HBO and David E. Kelley.”

Fresh off a double Emmy/Golden Globe win for her work on “Big Little Lies,” Kidman’s gearing up for a busy 2018. In addition to going into production on “Big Little Lies” Season 2 (presumably sometime in the spring), she’ll also be seen in Karyn Kusama’s latest film “Destroyer,” Joel Edgerton’s “Boy Erased,” and opposite Jason Momoa in the upcoming “Aquaman.”
