Last November, Underworld launched their ambitious Drift project, a year-long multimedia campaign featuring the weekly release of new music, visual, and text pieces. As the end of the prolific series draws near, the English electronic group has announced a new album that collects all 52 weeks’ worth of material.
DRIFT Series 1, formerly titled Drift Songs, is due out via Caroline International on November 1st, the one-year anniversary of the first Drift project release. It will be available digitally, as well as in the form of an abridged “Sampler Edition” and an expanded box set. The box set boasts seven CDs, one Blu-ray disc, and an exclusive 80-page book featuring interviews and commentary from members Karl Hyde and Rick Smith.
In a press statement, DRIFT Series 1 is described as “a unique and expansive audio/visual document… seven discs of immersive and exploratory music that dive deep inside the band’s psyche.”

To preview the large-scale release, Underworld are sharing “S T A R”. The song may sound familiar to those who tuned into Drift project episode 5.
