Earlier this month was the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania. The Two-Night spectacle came to an end with Cody Rhodes finally finishing his story by dethroning Roman Reigns. One of the people that helped him achieve his dream was WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker. The Deadman showed up, surprising the fans and The Rock. He hit a Chokeslam on the Great One to take him out.

While speaking on the recent episode of the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker reflected on his appearance at WrestleMania 40. The Deadman mentioned that the hardest part for him during his appearance was to run in through the fans and not spoil the surprise for the fans.

“I was more nervous about having to get where I had to get, through the people and everything. And I hadn’t, like I said, I hadn’t tested the new hardware. I had a pretty good… It was a pretty fair distance I had to run and then you’re trying to run at six foot eight and 300 pounds and be inconspicuous as you do it. So that part was kind of… That’s kind of what makes you nervous. You want to make it as big a surprise as you can. And a lot of times there’s easier ways to get to that point. But this was a big effort to get me from point A to point B. From point B to point C, being the ring.”

The Undertaker appreciates the Philadelphia crowd

“And I was out there. My goodness, what a moment to have! Such a great storyline. But yeah man, it was like, ‘I’m going to… I can close this book…’ Yeah! They [The Philadelphia crowd] were great Sunday Night. They were really awesome. Yeah it was just a… Man! And believe me, that [the thought of returning to the ring] crossed my mind.”

The Deadman is happy to finally get closure and he put an end to his wrestling chapter.

“But even when I got that call earlier in the week it was different. Normally I would have been amped and ready. But I didn’t really think anything about it until it all happened. And then that’s when it was really, it was crystal. By the time Michelle got backstage, everybody else had left. I was like, ‘Dude, I’m good.’”

The Undertaker praises The Rock

During the same episode, The WWE Hall of Famer gave The People’s Champion his flowers. Undertaker claimed that he felt like he was wrestling back in 1998 again. He also assured that despite The Rock being one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, he is still a professional wrestler.

“I mean brother, we were in ’98 again. It really did. It was crazy. And you could tell, as huge a Megastar he is now, he’s a wrestler. And he was in his element. You just can’t… Doing movies and doing different things like that, you cannot replace the feeling of having 72,000 people… But the energy you are receiving from that man, it was so much fun.”

“He’s [The Rock] pretty solid. He’s pretty dense. But yeah. It was fun. It was just like a little flashback. He was so… Man he was really just all my dealings with him, that night, and he was just so gracious. And I think I just sensed that he was just happy being involved in that again. Obviously, he’s one of the most, he’s probably the biggest movie star out there. But you could just tell he was in his element. And he was so kind and gracious to everybody. Man! It was really good to see and man… It was just a overall, man… What a great weekend,” The Undertaker said.
