Ultron's Origins Explained in Exclusive 'Avengers' Featurette

How can something designed for good turn out to be so bad?

Ultron is unlike any other Marvel movie villain we’ve seen in that he was created by an Avenger. But Tony Stark didn’t build the angry android to be a baddie, as Robert Downey Jr. explains in this exclusive featurette for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Stark, aka Iron Man, simply wanted to use his tech skills to help the Avengers “do things a little bit better.”

Stark fails to realize that his high-tech machinery will evolve into a sentient robot filled with rage for mankind. Built to protect the human race, Ultron becomes bent on wiping it out. And only the Avengers can stop him.

We’ll find out if they succeed at putting an end to Ultron and his mechanical minions on May 1, when Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters.
