A Dallas-based sports bar known for its 29-degree cold draft beer served amid rustic lodge-like decor has delayed the Jacksonville debut of its first Northeast Florida restaurant.

Citing "unforeseen circumstances," Twin Peaks now expects to open at 5 p.m. Sept. 4 at 11892 Atlantic Blvd. in Kernan Village shopping center.

Twin Peaks announced the delay on social media — noting on Facebook that the new opening date would be "just in time for Game Days!" The chain previously announced it planned to open the Jacksonville restaurant on Monday.

Restaurant officials couldn't be reached immediately for comment.

Twin Peaks is renovating a building previously used by Cinco de Mayo Mexican restaurant, which relocated last year 3 miles away to 13170 Atlantic Blvd. at Harbour Place shopping center. The renovations were estimated at of $1.76 million.

Preparations to ready the restaurant to open continue moving forward, according to city and state records.

Twin Peaks received a city building permit July 28 to replace the building's existing grease hood and ductwork system at an estimated $160,000. On July 3 it received a separate city building permit for the installation of a new fire alarm system at an estimated cost of $23,786, records show.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation issued Twin Peaks a retail beverage temporary certificate on July 6. The agency's online records Sunday listed the restaurant's food service application as in progress.

The Jacksonville location will be among 12 Twin Peaks sports bars either open or coming soon in Florida, according to the chain's website.

Resembling a mountain lodge complete with a life-size elk statue near the entrance, Twin Peaks says it features the "coldest beer in the business" — a nicely chilled 29 degrees. Draft beer is served in a "perfectly frosted" 22-ounce mug.

The Twin Peaks menu boasts a variety of signature burgers, sandwiches and entrees as well as wings, flatbreads, salads and desserts.

Twin Peaks bills itself as "the ultimate sports lodge" and features servers known as the "Twin Peaks Girls," who are the brand ambassadors.
