As Spooky Season hits its stride, there are all kinds of special events being planned around and beyond Greater Fall River.

Trick or treat at Battleship Cove

Trick or treat aboard the historic naval vessels at Battleship Cove, 5 Water St., Fall River, on Friday, Oct. 13, 20, or 27, and meet friendly costumed characters as you tour the museum. The cost is $10 per person, which includes a trick-or-treating experience throughout the battleship, activities, and more. At the end of the night, there will be a raffle. Haunted Library in Swansea

Halloween lovers are invited to the Swansea Free Public Library’s annual Haunted Library on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. The stacks of the library will transform into a haunted maze, including spooky surprises where you least expect them. This year’s theme of Creepy Fairytales will highlight the dark side of some childhood favorites, including Humpty Dumpty and Alice in Wonderland. For those who don’t enjoy so much fear, there are games and crafts to enjoy. Treat bags are available on a first come, first served basis for children under 12. This one’s for our little furry friends. The Viva Fall River Maker Shop is holding a Howl-O-Ween Pup-Up event on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m., at 333 S. Main St. You can dress your pup up for Halloween and enter them into the pet costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative and spookiest outfits. Special reading, Halloween fun at Viva Maker Shop

On Saturday, Oct. 28, stop by the Viva Maker Shop from noon to 3 p.m. for a special Halloween double-header event. There will be a reading by LS Gagnon, author of the “Thea: The Little Witch” series. Fall River’s Downtown Spooky Stroll

On Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 2 to 5 p.m., Viva Fall River is hosting the Downtown Spooky Stroll. A prelude to the annual Greater Fall River Re-Creation Halloween Party, the Spooky Stroll offers a unique, downtown trick-or-treat adventure. More than 25 participating businesses will have candy stations offering spooky treats, in a ghostly gathering for all ages. Don your costumes and get ready to haunt downtown. Fun for the whole family: Greater Fall River RE-CREATION annual Halloween Party

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, 45 Rock St., Fall River, is going to be a happening place. From 5 to 7 p.m., Greater Fall River Re-Creation will be holding its annual Halloween party. They’ll be handing out ghoulish goodies, including free candy and food. There will be pizza and trick or treating, plus a spooky hallway. Plus they’ll have face painting, and a costume contest. The party is on, rain or shine.

Celebrate Owl-ween with Audubon

Join the Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium, 1401 Hope St., Bristol, for a different kind of Halloween celebration. On Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., they’re hosting a day of fright-free tricks and treats with Owl-ween. In addition to exploring outdoors, there will be games, crafts, and owl presentations. Costumes are encouraged, and guests of all ages are welcome. Tickets are $7 for kids, and $5 for member kids. ‘Spooktacular’ Halloween Happening in Westport

Celebrate a “spooktacular” but not-too-spooky Halloween with the Westport Recreation Department and the Westport Land Conservation Trust. The Halloween Happening will be held on Sunday, Oct., 15, from noon to 2 p.m., at Westport Woods, 573 Adamsville Rd., Westport. Dress up in costume and hit the trick-or-treat trail, with volunteers wearing family-friendly costumes handing out candy and treats. Outdoor games include: bean bag toss; witch hat ring toss; carnival cans; an egg and spoon race; a potato sack race; a pumpkin music walk; tug of war, and more. There will also be pumpkin painting, music, and food. Plus, local police and fire professionals will be handing out treats. It’s $5 per child, but parents/adults get in free. Registration is required. The rain date for this event is Sunday, Oct. 22.

Enjoy some seasonal tales at the Swansea Free Public Library, 69 Main St. Each Wednesday, through Oct. 25, the library is hosting a fall story time at 10:30 a.m. Stop by to hear some seasonal stories and make some crafts.

Bristol Community College’s Theatre program is hosting an interactive “haunted library” event on Friday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. The family-friendly event will be held at the Bristol Fall River campus, 777 Elsbree St.. There will be trick or treating, and the fun will start at the college’s Learning Resources Center (A building), with a theatrical finale in the Jackson Arts Center (H building). The event will include a kid-friendly spooky library tour, with possible fun appearances from ghosts, creatures, or candy goblins. Children are encouraged to attend wearing their costumes. Halloween trick or treat at The Breakers

Step back into the Gilded Age for a little Halloween fun. The Preservation Society of Newport County presents Trick or Treat at The Breakers on Friday, Oct. 27. Come in costume to the mansion at 44 Ochre Point Ave., Newport. They’ll have treats and surprises for guests of all ages, and 10 rooms all decked out for Halloween. There will be toys and treats handed out at six stations throughout the house, as well as a photo station. Choose between two entry times: 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and children, and kids under 2 get in for free. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center food pantry.
