Inspired by the recently opened exhibit “The Pull of Horses” in the UI Main Library gallery, enjoy a look at this exceptional equine printing specimen and artists’ book. Exquisite horse: a printer’s corpse features handpressed leaves created by 32 different artists and presses organized by the Silver Buckle Press and printer/curator Tracy Honn in 1997. Created in a limited edition of 100 copies, the 33 leaves are stored in a drop-spine box where the front and rear of horses (ranging from abstract to fantastical), reside in their own compartments side by side and can be mixed and matched to create spectacular hybrid images. These are just a glimpse of some of our favorite combinations–whoa!
