‘Ugly Betty’ Star Ana Ortiz to Star Opposite David Schwimmer in ‘Goosebumps’ Season 2 at Disney+

Ana Ortiz has been cast in the second season of Disney+’s “Goosebumps.”

Per the official logline, in Season 2 of the anthology series, “teenage siblings who discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”

Ortiz will play Jen, a dedicated police detective who remains rooted in her Brooklyn neighborhood after experiencing a tragic event that involved her friends in adolescence. She joins previously announced star David Schwimmer, who plays Anthony, the twins’ father and a former botany professor whose world takes a tumultuous turn as he juggles the responsibilities of overseeing an aging parent while having his kids for the summer.

Ortiz is best known for starring in “Ugly Betty” as Betty’s (American Ferrera) sister Hilda Suarez for four seasons from 2006 to 2010. She also played Victor’s (Michael Cimino) mother Isabel Salazar in three seasons of Hulu’s “Love Victor” from 2020 to 2022. Other prominent credits include “Boston Legal,” “Devious Maids,” “The Mindy Project,” “Over There” and “Whiskey Cavalier.” Ortiz is repped by Gersh and Geordie Frey.

“Goosebumps” is based on R.L. Stine’s children’s horror book series of the same name. Season 1, which was released on Disney+ in 2023, follows a group of five high schoolers as they investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle (Ben Cockell) – while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman developed the series and executive produce alongside showrunner Hilary Winston, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Erin O’Malley and Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman.
