U2 Set For Grammys Performance From the Sphere in Las Vegas

U2 is set to perform at the upcoming Grammy Awards next week with a broadcast from the Sphere in Las Vegas, the band announced on Friday.

The performance will mark the first broadcast from the high-tech venue, which opened last fall with a U2 residency as the band played their 1991 album Achtung Baby. That residency is still ongoing and will wrap up in March. So far, U2 is the only group to have performed a show at the Sphere, though Phish is slated to become the second group with four nights of performances beginning in April.

The segment will also include an awards presentation. U2, 22-time Grammy winners themselves, last played the awards six years ago, with Bono and The Edge joining Kendrick Lamar to lead off the 2018 ceremony. The band also played the song “Get Out of Your Own Way” that year.

The group joins a star-studded list of previously-announced performers that includes Dua Lipa, Burna Boy, Billie Eilish, Luke Combs, Travis Scott, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billy Joel. The Piano Man who will release a new song just before the ceremony, will play the Grammys for the first time in over 20 years. Alongside Joel, U2 are the only other performers listed so far who haven’t been nominated for a Grammy this year.

The show will air on Sunday, February 4th on CBS and Paramount Plus at 8 p.m. ET. Trevor Noah will once again serve as the Grammys’ host, his fourth year in a row taking on hosting duties.
