U2 took a moment out of their Las Vegas residency to pay tribute to the late Sinead O’Connor.

During their Saturday concert at the new Sphere venue in Vegas, the rock band broke into a snippet of O’Connor’s 1990 song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” honoring the singer who also hailed from the group’s native Ireland and died at age 56 in July. Fans captured footage of the heartfelt tribute.

The band featuring Adam Clayton, Bono, the Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. honored the singer-songwriter while playing their hit “With or Without You.” After Bono, 63, sang the final verse of the Grammy winners’ emotional fan-favorite, the song warped into the classic O’Connor track.

“Nothing compares to you,” the frontman repeated, while keeping his gaze glancing upwards. Moments after the song concluded, the vocalist continued looking peacefully up and outward at the animal designs in a pink hue that covered the interior of the spherical space.

The “Beautiful Day” band previously spoke about the death of the singer, whose death is currently being investigated with an autopsy after no medical cause was given. In July, they shared a photo of the artist and activist on Instagram and in the caption quoted the lyrics of her 1986 collaboration with their guitarist The Edge, 62, “Heroine.”

The group wrote, “Touch these eyes with a broken smile, Touch my mouth with your furrowed brow, Lift my heart, heal my shame , Lead me into rest again .. Heroine.. Rest In Peace Sinéad.”

Members of U2 including Adam Clayton, U2 and The Edge also mourned O’Connor as she was laid to rest in Bray, Country Wicklow, Ireland with a ceremony on Aug. 8.
