Tyreek Hill is one of the best deep threats the NFL has ever seen

No matter how fast an NFL player is, it’s just about impossible to make fellow NFL players look slow. Everyone in the NFL is fast. The difference between one fast player and another fast player is slight, in most cases.

Tyreek Hill makes opponents look slow.

The Kansas City Chiefs receiver is already among the great deep threats we’ve seen. On Saturday night, Hill caught his fourth 40-yard touchdown of the season. Nobody else has more than two, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

It’s not just that Hill has a knack for scoring on big plays. Many of them are similar: He just outruns the man across from him. That’s what happened against the Los Angeles Chargers. Hill was lined up against cornerback Casey Hayward. Hayward is a top NFL cornerback and the Chargers didn’t give him any deep safety help. Hill ran past Hayward like he was standing still. Hayward is dealing with a calf injury, but the speed on Hill’s 64-yard score was breathtaking. It gave the Chiefs an early 10-0 lead in a game that would determine first place in the AFC West with two weeks to go.

Hill isn’t without controversy. When he was at Oklahoma State he pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge of choking and hitting his pregnant girlfriend. That’s why he lasted until the fifth round of the draft. Hill’s talent is why the Chiefs ignored his past and selected him anyway. On the field, that’s paying off.

The one thing you can say for certain about Hill is that when he’s on a football field, he’s literally playing at a different speed than everyone else. That’s rare.
