Tyreek Hill to be active vs. Texans for first time since Week 1

The Kansas City Chiefs will receive a major reinforcement for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans: the return of wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

The 25-year-old has been out for four weeks since leaving the season opener with a clavicle injury, but felt ready to play during warmups, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Hill’s return could hardly come at a better time, since the Chiefs are coming off their first loss of the season, which also coincided with an injury to their other top receiver, Sammy Watkins. Hill may not be fully back up to speed, but his explosiveness will be much needed in what should be a shootout between AFC powers.

There was optimism that Hill might play last week when he returned to practice, but his and Watkins’ combined absence led to a season-low 13 points. On Friday, head coach Andy Reid said it would come down to a game-time decision, and further testing apparently has been enough to let him play.

The Chiefs’ receiving corps was looking a little thin, as the team would have had to rely upon Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman, in addition to Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce.

Hill will have an uphill battle to reach a fourth straight Pro Bowl after registering just 16 yards in his only game of the season. He'll need to average 89.5 yards per game the rest of the way to eclipse 1,000 for the third straight season.
