Tyler Stanaland is speaking out after his ex-wife Brittany Snow’s candid comments about their marriage.

“Relationships are complex even without public attention and speculation,” the Selling the OC star began a message posted on his Instagram Stories Thursday night.

“A mutual commitment was made, both personally and legally, to never speak about the complexities of my marriage publicly and I plan to honor that,” he continued. “I do, however, want to make it clear that I was never unfaithful in my marriage and the accusations of infidelity couldn’t be further from the truth. I will be making no further comments on this matter.”

“I wish her nothing but the best,” he ended the post.

Snow, 38, opened up about her split from Stanaland, 34, during an appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast Wednesday.

Cooper brings up the rumors that swirled among viewers of Selling the OC about the nature of Stanaland's relationships with some of his co-stars. "Your ex-husband went on a reality show and there was a situation with another woman that just played out and you had no idea what was happening until it aired for the world," she says.

“They took up a lot of energy and emotion and time and real estate in my head," the Pitch Perfect star replies, referring to the Oppenheim Group real estate agents around whom the show is centered. "I don't wanna give them any more time and energy because then they would win and get what they wanted — which was getting my time and energy and attention."

Snow adds, "I will say what people think happened, happened."

Delving deeper into her relationship with Stanaland, Snow says, "I was not aware of a lot of things." She notes that the "saddest part" about the situation is that she didn’t listen to her own instincts about her ex-husband despite feeling she has a "good sense of character.”

"I had instincts," she says, "and I think because I was in love, I didn't trust them."

She continues, noting that there were happy times for the pair: “There was a marriage there. There was so much love. And I think that that gray [area] is hard to understand because it's much more salacious and interesting that 'he did this, and she did this.' "

The couple tied the knot in March 2020 and separated in September 2022, finalizing their divorce the following June.

Snow and Stanaland's relationship took a major blow after he revealed on season one that his co-star Kayla Cardona had attempted to kiss him twice.

Stanaland’s evolving relationship with another cast member, Alex Hall, was also documented on the Selling Sunset spinoff. He and Hall shared a kiss during a work trip in Mexico at the end of season 2, which was released a year after Stanaland and Snow announced their separation.

The realtor and the actress announced their “difficult decision” to separate in identical statements on Instagram.

"This decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another,” they wrote. “We have realized we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives."

"We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie," they added. "We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter."

During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in February, Snow said the past year had been “really challenging,” but also “really great.”
