“I’m very competitive,” reveals “Teen Wolf” star and musician Tyler Posey while discussing his episode 5 unmasking on “The Masked Singer.” The artist formerly known as Hawk says, “I gave it my all. When they said it was me going home I was surprised.” Posey was sent packing by Tiki in the smackdown after they each sang their own rendition of “Monster” by Lady Gaga. Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior Denton Davidson above.

Posey knew Tiki had a great voice, stating, “I can’t match that, but maybe I can bring the energy. He has an amazing voice, but I thought I could outperform him. So I was flapping my wings, I was circling around the stage and when they told me I was going home I was just surprised! There was literally nothing more that I could have done. Maybe be a better singer, but my style of singing is punk rock. He was hitting notes that were completely out of my range. He’s an incredible singer, but I did feel like I outperformed him. I felt so hurt for just a split second.”

The actor stumped panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger. While the first three guessed Hawk was Ryan Phillippe, Chad Michael Murray and Cole Sprouse, respectively, it was Scherzinger’s guess of Billie Joe Armstrong that excited the performer. “That’s all I needed,” he says. “I was so honored and humbled that they thought that I could have been Billie Joe Armstrong. He’s been my idol since I was 10. That was cool.”

Posey released his album “UNRAVEL” last May and fans can look out for him on tour with his wife, Phem, in 2024.
