Tyler Posey (‘The Masked Singer’ Hawk) unmasked interview: ‘I was very flattered that you thought I sounded like Billie Joe Armstrong’

“The Masked Singer” celebrated spooky season on Wednesday, October 25 with its “Harry Potter Night” episode on FOX. Four mystery celebrities sang their hearts out, but it was Hawk who had his wings clipped after her performance of “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by The Police. The feathered fighter removed his mask to reveal “Teen Wolf” star and musician Tyler Posey.

“I was very flattered that you thought I sounded like Billie Joe Armstrong,” Tyler told the panelists during his unmasked interview with host Nick Cannon. “That means a lot coming from you guys. I love performing. I just wanted to get a chance to do this. I’m also a little competitive so I’m a little hurt. But it’s okay, the Hawk forgives. I’m just happy to be here.”

Before the actor unmasked the panelists submitted one final guess for who they thought was hiding inside the Hawk costume. All four were stumped as Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger guessed Ryan Phillippe, Chad Michael Murray, Cole Sprouse and Billie Joe Armstrong, respectively.

In Hawk’s original clue package he revealed, “As a young bird I was always hanging out with adults and grew up pretty fast into the family business. But around other birds my age I was super shy, closed off. I felt alone, like a total reject. Until, one day I heard a sound that changed my life in the blink of an eye. Heavy guitar chords blaring from my speakers that got my teen heart beating. This fast, raw music blew up my world. And the fallout? Boards, brawn and bruises. I built my own voice in my own way. I had the time of my life touring. I found my power in grimy busses and hot parking lots. I had never been happier. I realized being a reject is totally fine by me.” Visual clues included a full moon, a treasure chest and a tour bus with a postcard that reads, “Greetings from New York.”

Celebrities previously unmasked in Season 10 were Demi Lovato (Anonymouse) Anthony Anderson (Rubber Ducky), Tom Sandoval (Diver), Michael Rapaport (Pickle) and Billie Jean King (Royal Hen).
